Keeping it local – should you support local business?

My target area is my local surrounding area, and while I won’t turn down building a site for someone who is across the nation, or even the world, I really think that the support of local business is not only a good practice as a business owner, but also as a customer, keeping the local community thriving and successful.

In my opinion, being able to work with a customer one on one, and having the option to meet face to face is an important part of design. Sometimes conveying ideas through email gets difficult.

I am also a big supporter of utilizing local business and keeping our money within the community. I would much prefer to see my community successful opposed to using either enormous corporations and/or franchises. For instance, with regards to produce, I would much rather pay the premium to support locally grown organic food, and help support local farmers by going to local farmers markets etc. I think this is important other local businesses as well, for instance contractors, retail business, etc.

This isn’t a must for my business practice, but when I can, I say ‘ Keep It Local’!
